I'm a systems designer with two decades of industry experience across multiple overlapping disciplines. After many years as an artist, I followed my design sensibilities over to the product side where my multidisciplinary background has been an enormous advantage, especially in the UGC space. I thrive in complex problem spaces, and deeply appreciate the value of constraints as, not obstacles, but creative springboards that offer opportunities for innovation and surprise.
I have a strong affinity for interlocking systems, and I'm able to anticipate and communicate how ripples caused by small changes can impact the larger landscape. I excel at finding effective, narrowly-scoped, user-centric solutions to thorny problems, and I have a great deal of experience working directly with engineers to implement and iterate on them. I have been commended for my strong narrative logic, my leadership and mentorship abilities, my commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive vibe, and the sense of humor I bring to my team and my work. I'm most fulfilled when I care deeply about the people I'm working with and the product we're working on.
I'm an avid gamer, particularly fond of mystery and deduction, puzzle games, and weird little indie projects where the hand of the author is obvious. When I get the chance, I meet up with friends for board games and D&D. As my professional work has shifted towards design and product management, my personal work has gravitated towards creating physical art, and my weekends are dedicated to stained glass, pottery, and a variety of other assorted projects, especially when the gloomy Seattle winters drive me indoors. When I feel burnt out or creatively stuck, I like to take a class about something new. The process of learning energizes me, and making time for it has become an important part of my creative renewal.
Iām currently employed at Rec Room in Seattle, WA, USA.
